penguin
Penguins are aquatic, flightless birds. They live almost exclusively in the southern hemisphere, with the Galapagos penguin being the only exception. They are adapted to life mostly in water, and have dark countershaded plumage. Their wings have evolved into flippers to allow for better swimming. Though native to the southern hemisphere, not all are found in cold climates.
