The e621 search syntax, explained
e621's search is very powerful once you know a dozen tricks. Everything below works the same on e621 and in Sixview, where the search bar also turns your tags into chips and suggests tags as you type.
The basics
- Several tags —
dragon wingsfinds posts that have all the tags. - Exclude — a minus in front removes a tag:
dragon -comic. - Any of — a tilde makes tags optional, at least one must match:
~wolf ~fox ~dog. - Wildcard —
*matches the end of a tag:pokemon*. - Underscores — tags use underscores instead of spaces:
pokemon_(species),red_eyes.
Sorting
Add an order: metatag. The default is newest first.
order:score— best voted first.order:favcount— most favourited first.order:random— a random mix (great to discover).order:comment_count— most discussed first.

In Sixview
Type in the search bar: tags become chips you can tap to remove or turn into “not”, and every e621 syntax above still works if you type it. Save the searches you like, open the viewer, or let the “For you” feed build searches for you.
